Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer – The Bend & Snap

July 15, 2016 8 Comments

Vodka, Lime and Pomegranate Juice combine to make a delightful and pretty drink.

You don’t have to be blonde but you should probably be legal to enjoy The Bend and Snap with Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer inspired by the move ‘Legally Blonde.’ It’s perfect for summer…light, refreshing and well, pink!

Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer Served in a Clear, Tall Glass with a LIme Wedge

Legally Blonde celebrated its 15th anniversary this past Wednesday. Can you believe that it has already been 15 years since Reese Witherspoon starred as Elle Woods, a Valley girl who one-ups her Harvard-bound boyfriend by enrolling at the university’s law school after he jilts her? I decided to celebrate with a cocktail so I’m introducing this Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer Cocktail – The Bend and Snap.

While this story line might not seem one that would typically appeal to me, the truth is that it is such a reminder of my youngest daughter; she of the Clueless, New Kids on the Block, Gilmore Girls and Legally Blonde generation.

Too old for animated features and too young to go by herself, I sat through many a movie that I might not have chosen to attend by myself so that I could take her. And some of them were just cute enough that I enjoyed them too.

I’ve always liked Reese Witherspoon; she pretty much exudes wholesome so I figure why not and I ended up enjoying it with Lauren, not just for Lauren. I have to admit the bit about bending and snapping was not exactly what I saw myself teaching my daughter that day but it’s become a quintessential memory of that movie and I decided the perfect name for the perky cocktail (yes, perky…watch the clip if you don’t know!)

I know this would be an Elle approved cocktail. Some lime juice, pomegranate simple syrup and ginger beer are mixed with Ketel One’s Citroen (Lemon) Vodka and as pretty as it is; it’s still filled with enough zing to be totally adult in all of it’s pink glory! So fire up Netflix, make yourself and friends a drink or two and laugh along with Elle while she figures out exactly what she got herself in for!

Here’s to a lighthearted comedy; some days we need silly to escape from the everyday reality and this Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer Cocktail works for me and hope it does for you too…Cheers!

PIN ‘The Bend and Snap with Citreon Vodka and Pomegranate Juice’

Vodka, Lime and Pomegranate Juice combine to make a delightful and pretty drink.

Vodka, Pom Juice and Ginger Beer - The Bend and Snap

Pink Citroenade - The Bend and Snap!

A light, refreshing blend of vodka, pomegranate juice, and ginger beer made to celebrate the anniversary of the movie, 'Legally Blonde.'

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. Ketel One Citroen® Flavored Vodka
  • 1.5 oz. Lime juice
  • 1 oz. Pomegranate syrup, see notes
  • 1 oz. Ginger beer, chilled

Garnish:

  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Combine the vodka, lime juice and pomegranate simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until very cold; about 10 times.
  2. Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. Top with the chilled ginger beer stir, and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

Pomegranate syrup is half pomegranate juice and half sugar heated until the sugar dissolves and then refrigerated.

I only had some small bottles of pomegranate/cranberry juice so I used them...worked fine!

I just have to say....I found your site by a link to Cranberry Liqueur and I signed up for your newsletter because of 'Bend & Snap'. None of the afore-mentioned have I EVER been exposed to! Booze will be our common thread! Thank you ever so much!

Hi Jan - That made me chuckle! I typically post a new cocktail every Friday; the past two weeks I've had cataract surgery on an eye so gave myself a bit of a reprieve...it would not be fair to make a drink I couldn't see would it? Hope to get back in the saddle this week and hoping you'll find some drinks you'll want to try...Barb

I remember this movie very fondly. I think I watched it like a million times (exaggeration but almost), and this drink sounds perfect! I don't have any of the ingredients but hopefully you'll make it for me, that way it will be perfect!

Hi, The recipe mentions grenadine but it is not listed at all in the ingredients list. Is this just another name for your pomegranate syrup? Sounds delicious!

Yes Anne and my mistake. I first thought of grenadine which is actually reduced pomegranate juice but decided easier to just make some pomegranate syrup and changing that text in the instructions got by me. Thanks for the catch...I've fixed that!

I don't think I've ever seen that movie. Sounds like a good Friday night Netflix special. :-) Accompanied by this drink, of course! Really like the inclusion of the ginger beer. Good stuff -- thanks.

It's cute although I 'had' to go. The drink is a keeper though. :)

Definitely time for me to watch this movie again. I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters. And this is definitely the drink I need in hand! (I'd totally forgotten about the bend and snap. Fun video clip.)
