Halloween Ghost Cookies
Halloween Ghost Cookies are a classic treat for the Halloween season, requiring only Nutter Butter peanut butter cookies, melted white chocolate, and white/black candy eyes. They’re easy, take very few ingredients, and kids can even help!

Halloween is soon and I’m still not the biggest fan…but here I am again, making another Halloween treat. I have to share these Halloween Ghost Cookies. I always participated in Halloween traditions with my girls, but when they grew up, graduated from college and then got jobs and moved away, I thought I was done.

Then I moved to a new neighborhood ten years ago and within 10 houses there were over 20 kids! I got to know all those little buggars, how could I shut off the lights and disappear on Halloween? Especially when neighbors go all out…like THIS!!! I feel less guilty; folks like this make up for me being beyond low key.
Fast forward to today. Many of those kids have moved, gone to college, and even the youngest no longer partake; they are WAY to mature at 16 and 17; just ask them. 🙂 So I thought, that’s it. I’m really done. Hmm, maybe not?
Of course my reputation precedes me; I’ve been cooking with kids since mine were little…and now I’m BaBa to one five year old, so not surprising that a friend asked if I would help make cookies for her granddaughter’s class and of course I was there, with this easy recipe for Halloween Ghost Cookies.

She’s five, I wanted something simple and these fit that bill…SO easy. Even a man could do it. 🙂 Truth be told, I started by doing some with an edible marker for the mouth but that was the only tough part for a little girl…so we decided that our Halloween Ghost Cookies could live without a mouth…add them if you need them; half of ours are silent, spooky ghosts.
When I say easy? Melt some white chocolate, dip a cookie in it, put some candy eyes on the cookie. If you want the mouth, chill the cookies first, and then draw and fill in a small oval using edible marker . Done. I don’t normally take step by step photos but thinking other little kids might be helping, I decided to share a simple photo of steps 1 through 4. Step five? Smash them in your mouth!

That’s it…I told you it was simple. Plus…I sort of love anything peanut butter, including Nutter Butter Cookies, so these Halloween Ghost Cookies also find their way to my mouth. Yum…

Halloween Ghost Cookies
Ingredients
- 20 Nutter Butter Cookies
- 2 cups White Chocolate Chips
- 40 small Small Candy Eyes
- Black Edible Marker optional
Instructions
- Place the white chocolate chips in a small bowl or cup
- Microwave on med for 2 minutes, stopping to stir every 30 seconds until the chocolate is smooth and creamy, without lumps.
- Dip one of the cookies halfway into the chocolate and let some of the excess drip off the cookie.
- Turn the cookie upright and give it a little shake or tap the uncovered end on a clean surface. This allows the melted chocolate to drip down the front of the cookie a bit to give it a more ghostly look.
- Place the cookie on parchment paper.
- Using baking tweezers, if desired, place two candy eyes a little ways from the top of the cookie.
- Repeat until all the cookies are done. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes to set the chocolate.
- Optional: Using an edible black marker, draw the mouths onto the ghosts, not far from where the white chocolate ends on the cookie.

This recipe is super fun and beginner-friendly, using just a few ingredients like cookies, melted white chocolate, and candy eyes.
