Adult Mocha Shake with Strawberries
A delicious adult beverage, this Mocha Shake with Strawberries is a summer delight!

My dilemma today? Valentine Cocktail or Super Bowl Cocktail? Both are important and since I LOVE the Broncos I went with this Adult Mocha Shake with Strawberries…next week though?
I’ve got a fantastic party punch with oranges of course so stay tuned! Heck if you’re having a Super Bowl party and someone is in the mood I’m betting this one would be very popular; add a bit of vodka to make it more ‘game time’ than ‘romance time.’
I admit this is about as simple as it gets. Still, simple isn’t synonymous with bad; sometimes it can be anything but. For an after dinner cocktail that can also serve as a scrumptious dessert, it is perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Chocolate liqueur, coffee liqueur and vanilla ice cream. I call it an adult shake but here’s a little secret. I would let my girls celebrate with me and make this for them. Yes, before they were 21.
Mom’s get to do that sometimes. Every night? A problem. Once or twice a year? Not really. 🙂
I’m certain I didn’t always have strawberries this time of year but they sure are everywhere now. These were organic berries; just beautiful, lush and very tasty.
They did speak Spanish but sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do for her Valentine, right? If you have a problem finding strawberries; simply garnish with some raspberries; they are equally wonderful with the chocolate in this shake.
I’ve made a similar cocktail just using chocolate liqueur but this time it was different. First, I had a bottle of Godiva’s latest entry into the spirits world, Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur.
I thought it could hold up well to some coffee liqueur and I still have some of my stash I made last year.
The new GODIVA Dark Chocolate Liqueur was inspired by GODIVA’s rich dark chocolate; it sounded like it was meant for mixing with some coffee liqueur and, well, ice cream.
As mentioned, you could kick it up a notch with a bit of vodka but I was after a real dessert and this was perfect with the ruby red strawberries.
I first published this cocktail the year that I started Friday Cocktails and no I won’t show you that photo; I’m not surprised it was languishing in the depths of my blog.

Photos really can make a great drink or break it and I thought this one deserved a second chance; it’s a longtime family favorite I think you will love too.
Make this for those you love or make it for yourself…it’s easy, it’s scrumptious. It’s love!

What a fabulous photo, this looks heavenly Barb!
Thanks Jayne…bet you’ve been busy and could use one!
Thanks Jayne; it really is cemented forever as my favorite cake!
Photos do make such a difference, don’t they? Super drink! 🙂 Glad you brought this one back.
They do. I wish I could replace about 4 years of photos but I never will; just the occasional special dish or cocktail that I really love enough to make again. Like this one!
This drink is absolutely stunning. We shoot a lot of cocktails, but I don’t think we’ve ever created something this pretty. You have a gift!
Thanks Laura, I do love shooting them. With the added benefit of sipping them afterwards. 🙂
The only other ice cream (liquor) drink I’ve had was a Grasshopper. I love the look of this. Such a nice Valentine edition to your Friday cocktails. I have to pin this!
Yum! Looks absolutely fabulous!
I like the cocoa and sugar on the rims of the glasses, what a nice touch and great attention to detail. Very pretty!
Wow, this looks delicious. It may be addicting:) A great way to end a nice Valentine’s Dinner. Happy Valentine’s Day Barb!
Why yes…it could be! Hey…let me know when you’re ready for a field trip to Trader Joes; I want to check it out!
Wow, this looks good! I’m not normally a fan of ice cream drinks, but this looks superb. And you’re right that it does double duty as both a dessert and an after dinner drink. Excellent creation — thanks.
Thanks John; it’s not unlike just using a combination of heavy cream and half and half…but already cold so no diluting with ice cubes. That was my theory at least. 🙂
Beautiful photos Barb! This looks like the perfect way to end a Valentine’s Day supper. Yum!
Why thank you…getting some daylight in the room I take photos in makes a difference! First time EVER! 🙂
It might have been easy to make but this is no simple mocha shake. Good grief it looks good.
Isn’t that the perfect treat then? Easy, looks good and tastes divine? I thought so too!
