Dubliner Beef Burger

An Irish style burger coated with flour and cooked in a cast iron skillet and best when topped with homemade Guinness Irish Ketchup!

Ingredients

For the Burger Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • cup chopped onions
  • 16 ounces ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Guinness Irish Ketchup
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves chopped
  • 1 egg beaten
  • ¼ cup flour seasoned
  • Olive oil for frying

To Prepare the Burger

  • 4 soft burger buns
  • 2 ounces medium white cheddar grated or sliced
  • 1 small Red onion sliced
  • lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons Guinness Irish Ketchup

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pan, add the onions, cover and sweat until soft. Allow to cool and then mix in a bowl with all the other ingredients.
  • Shape into burgers and toss in seasoned flour, patting off excess. Fry in the olive oil over medium heat, turning as required until fully cooked (internal temperature of at least 160°F) about 4 minutes each side.
  • Serve on a toasted bun with cheese shavings, lettuce, onion slice and a dollop of Guinness Irish Ketchup .
