Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce apricot juice I used Red Jacket's Apricot Stomp
  • ½ ounce simple syrup optional
  • lime wedges for garnish.

Instructions

  • Rub the edge of your glass with a lime and dip the moistened rim into a combination of salt, sugar and zest (see Notes). Fill the glass with ice.
  • Add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and apricot juice to a cocktail shaker. Stir and taste, add simple syrup if you would like it to be sweeter.
  • Fill the shaker with ice; cover and shake well until the container is frosted and cold. Pour the mixture into the prepared glass; garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

Apricot juices are going to vary, you may have to add a little bit of simple syrup if your juice isn't sweet enough. I suggest you try mixing everything together, taste it and only add the simple syrup if you need it.
My new favorite combination I used to rim the glass?
Half salt (Kosher) and half sugar are combined. Add some grated lime rind and mix. Depending on your cocktail, substitute the lime with lemon, orange or even grapefruit rind.
