Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Spice Syrup:

  • 16 oz pumpkin puree or 15 oz if using canned
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ tablespoon cinnamon
  • tsp nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cups water

For the Cocktail:

  • 4 ounces Reposado tequila
  • 2 ounces orange liqueur
  • 4 ounces pumpkin spice syrup
  • Juice from one lime

For Garnish:

  • Lime Wheels

Instructions

  • To Make the Pumpkin Spice Syrup
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan set over medium-low heat; whisk together until smooth. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat, cool, and strain into a container.
  • To Make the Cocktail
  • Chill two cocktail glasses. Rub a lime wedge around the rim and dip the rim into a saucer filled with a combination of equal parts kosher salt and sugar.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, orange liqueur and pumpkin spice syrup. Shake until chilled.
  • Fill the rimmed glasses with ice and pour the mixture into the glasses.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel.

Notes

Once the syrup has strained out from the pumpkin, use it for toast or waffles...it's like pumpkin butter!
