Simple to make, beautiful in presentation…what more could you ask for?
I love Limoncello; I had never heard of it until a trip to Boston several years ago. My daughter, sister and I spent several wonderful days in a beautiful B&B in the North end of the city (like going to Italy) and it was there in a small restaurant that I was introduced to this delight; I always keep a bottle in the freezer now! This recipe for Limoncello Panna Cotta with Black Cherry Sauce offers a light yet elegant dessert that has a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients
- 3 tsp gelatin
- 1 Cup Whole Milk
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 6 Tablespoons Limoncello
- 1 Cup Chopped Pitted Cherries
- 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
Instructions
- Soften the gelatin in cup of cold water. Heat the milk, cream and sugar until tiny bubbles form. Stir in the Limoncello and mix well. Remove from the heat and add the gelatin, stirring until it has completely dissolved. Pour the mixture into 4 individual cups and place in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to set.
- To make the sauce, heat the cherries, sugar and lemon juice until the sugar has dissolved. Puree the mixture until well blended. You may pass the mixture through a sieve if desired for a smoother consistency. Spoon the sauce over the panna cotta in the cups. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Remove from the refrigerator 15 minutes before serving.
It was one of those times when there was no stopping guests and having them wait for a photo so this one is from Deborah Mele and is on her blog at www.italianfoodforever.com (which of course is my own personal mantra!). Thanks Deb!
